2. Visiting the website
When you visit the website, we process technically necessary connection data, including your IP address, the time of access, the page requested and your browser identifier. This enables us to deliver the website and operate it securely under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our web server does not keep regular access logs.
3. Hosting and Cloudflare
The website is hosted on our own server in Germany. To make it available quickly and securely, traffic is routed through the network of Cloudflare Inc., 101 Townsend St., San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. Cloudflare processes technically necessary connection data such as your IP address to deliver the website and prevent attacks (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). Data may be transferred to the USA; Cloudflare is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. We have a data processing agreement with Cloudflare (Article 28 GDPR).
4. Visitor statistics (Umami)
To see how many people visit this website and which pages they read, we use the open-source software Umami. We host it ourselves on our own server in Germany (besucher.findmedaddy.de); the statistical data is not sent to any third party. Umami does not set cookies or store anything on your device. It records the page visited, the referring page, browser, operating system, device type, screen size, language and approximate country or region. Your IP address is processed only briefly for this purpose and is not stored; it is combined with other attributes to create an anonymous identifier that changes regularly, so we cannot recognise you on a later visit or associate the identifier with a person. If you have enabled “Do Not Track” in your browser, your visits are not counted.
The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR (our legitimate interest in measuring website traffic with minimal data collection to improve our offering). We access your device within the meaning of Section 25 TDDDG only where technically necessary to display the page. Since the statistical data cannot be associated with any person, we retain it without a fixed time limit. You can prevent your visits from being counted at any time by enabling “Do Not Track” or using a script blocker.
5. Purchase enquiries and e-mail
The form initially processes your details only in your browser. It does not send them to our server or store them permanently in your browser. Selecting “Open e-mail draft” passes your details to your e-mail application. You decide there whether to send the message.
If you send an e-mail, we process your contact details and the message content to handle your enquiry. For purchase enquiries, this is done to take steps prior to entering into a contract under Article 6(1)(b) GDPR; for other enquiries, it is based on our legitimate interest in handling them under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our e-mail service provider is STRATO. We delete your details once they are no longer needed, and after twelve months at the latest, unless a statutory retention obligation applies.
6. Your rights
Subject to the statutory requirements, you have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing and data portability. Where processing is based on legitimate interests, you may object on grounds relating to your particular situation. You may lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.
